Across Canada, the building code newly mandates that Integrated System Testing (IST) be conducted where fire and life safety systems are interconnected and operating together, in accordance with CAN/ULC-S1001 standards.
The responsibility for the costs and implementation of IST falls on the owners and developers, often needing to be completed before the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) can issue the required occupancy permits.
The National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) stipulates that IST must be performed twice: once after construction and again one year later for the initial interval testing, followed by subsequent tests every five years thereafter.
RSR has successfully completed IST for over 20 facilities, including:
- North Trail High School – Calgary, AB
- Telus Sky Mixed-Use Development – Calgary, AB
- Landmark 7 Commercial Building – Kelowna, BC
- Quartz Road Commercial Building – Whitehorse, YT
- GoodLeaf Farms – Calgary, AB
- One 12 Residential Development – Edmonton, AB
