Project Description
Calgary Cancer Centre
- RSR Commissioning Services Inc. is the province’s Independent Commissioning Agent for the Mechanical systems related to the new Calgary Cancer Centre (CCC). This Alberta Infrastructure project targeted at $1.2 billion construction cost is currently under design by the successful design-build team headed by PCL. It is scheduled to be fully open by 2023. Primary building services construction has begun at the Foothills Medical Campus. RSR has been involved in this project since late 2016 following our selection during the initial design bridging exercise and RFP process that was led by the team from ARUP.
- The CCC is expecting to achieve LEED Gold as developed by US Green Building Council, Healthcare Version 4. The project is expected to be achieve a number of LEED points related to Mechanical systems, design innovations and energy conservation initiatives. These include water and energy efficiency strategies, reduced cooling tower water use, enhanced refrigerant management, enhanced indoor air quality strategies, green education and improved operation and maintenance strategies. As of the end of 2017 the Schematic Design phase is complete and we are well on our way to completing reviews of the 50% design stage.
- As the design proceeds with input from the many users and vested parties, RSR continues to be an active member of the total commissioning team in our role in reviewing the mechanical plans and specifications as they are released in numerous phases. Our team will continue to be involved through completion of the design, the construction and well into the first year of operations scheduled for 2024.
